Description
(extracted from source data)
DESCRIPTION Encainide Hydrochloride is a sodium channel blocker and class Ic antiarrhythmic agent. It is a non-chiral and benzanilide derivative. It blocks voltage-gated sodium channels and slows conduction within the His-Purkinje system and myocardium. It has antifibrillatory activity. It was developed by Bristol-Myers Squibb and is no longer used because of its frequent proarrhythmic side effects. (BOC Sciences Bioactive Compounds)
