DESCRIPTION
Glutaraldehyde (GA) is a disinfectant, medication, preservative, and fixative. It is effective against Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria, fungi, and a variety of viruses. GA was tested as HF (hydraulic fracturing) chemical as agonists or antagonists of nuclear receptor signalling (estrogen receptor, androgen receptor, progesterone receptor, glucocorticoid receptor or peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma). In antagonistic mode GA caused reductions in luciferase activity in the reporter assays at higher concentrations (50–100 μM) exhibiting cytotoxicity.
